Our Commitment
to
Science Education

Passport To Science is a community-driven initiative  dedicated to promoting science education on Vancouver Island. Our goal is to make science fun and accessible, inspiring individuals to pursue STEAM. We aim to reduce the financial barrier that can prevent families from visiting STEAM organizations on Vancouver Island.

Since our pilot launch in 2023, we have

  • Hosted 3 free science events for families on Vancouver Island

  • Distributed 1500 Passports to Science full of fun science challenges and discounts to STEM organizations

  • Collaborated with 17 STEM organizations from Victoria to Coombs

What’s Next?

Our 2025 season is now live! May 24th, 15 organizations came together in a launch event to host 500 guests at the Royal BC Museum in an event unlike any other. Guests drove robots, met a screech owl, played hide and seek with insects and more.

Head to the Google Play store or the Apple store to download the FREE app developed by our partner Tourismo and get started today.  Prefer the look and feel of the physical passports? We get it. Head on over to the Maritime Museum, Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary or Centre of the Universe to purchase your physical passport for $3. This helps us cover the cost of printing.

We firmly believe that the world is a better place when all minds are given the opportunity to explore what excites them. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math are for absolutely everyone, so, this summer and always, See Yourself in Science!

Science

Accessible, approachable and curiosity driven

The idea for the Passport to Science started in a coffee shop in February 2023. Aimee, affiliated with the Dominion Astrophysical society met with Kay of Dino Lab Inc., to discuss how to best bring science to Victoria! having both grown up being granted opportunities to pursue and explore science, they both knew that all children deserved the same spaces to find what ignites that passion.  Many sleepless nights, productive coffee meetings, and email chains later, the Kickoff for the Passport To Science was launched in May of 2023, just a few short months after their first meeting.

Give a woman access to science and she will turn that into a community initiative.
